Our Mission

Movement is Medicine was founded on the idea that the clients come first. Healthcare quality is unfortunately at an all time low right now. Because of this, we have made it our mission to provide a different approach to healthcare. One that focuses on improving the whole person, not just their pain.

Our goal is to help our clients live a high performance, pain-free life. If you like to run, we'll help you stay healthy while you train. If you love pilates, barre or yoga class, we'll get you back in the studio and keep you there so you can enjoy quality time with your friends.

Dr. Amanda Bennett

Amanda helps dancers and active adults avoid and overcome pain, build strength and flexibility so that they can continue the workouts and sports they love.

Amanda understands that dancers are very different from other athletes, because she is one. Amanda was plagued with multiple injuries throughout her dance career that caused her to be sidelined for months at a time, and even require surgery. Because of this, it became Amanda’s mission to provide dancers of all ages with the knowledge and care that will keep them out of the doctor’s office and on the dance floor all year long.

Along Amanda’s journey to help dancers she has also become an expert in helping those who participate in Pilates, Barre, and Yoga avoid and overcome injuries that are often related to the extreme flexibility and strength needed to participate in these forms of exercise.

Amanda knows first-hand that many medical professionals do not understand the demands of training such as this. If you’re looking for some who understands your struggles, AMANDA IS HERE FOR YOU.

Amanda Bennett is a board certified Physical Therapist who obtained her Doctoral degree from Old Dominion University and has advanced training in dance rehabilitation

Dr. Marc Adams

Marc helps athletes and active adults in Hampton Roads build resilient bodies to help them overcome and avoid injuries so they can continue living life at their highest level without the fear of getting injured.

Marc helped found Movement is Medicine Physical Therapy and Sports Performance because he was frustrated with how poorly most of the healthcare industry caters to the aging, but active populations. Whether you are a weekend warrior, or world class runner, athletes require a different type of care.

Too many active adults have fear instilled in them by getting told things like “you probably shouldn’t be doing that at your age” or “you’ll never be able to do what you once could”, which Marc believes is absolutely UNTRUE. Because of this, it has become Marc’s mission to help change the minds and lives of active adults and athletes in the Hampton Roads area regardless of their age or activity level.

Marc is a board certified Doctor of Physical Therapy and graduate from Old Dominion University where he also received his Bachelors’ Degree in Exercise Science in addition to his minor in Psychology.

In his free time, Marc enjoys relaxing with a good craft beer, weightlifting, very rudimentary wood working, and spending time with his loved ones and amazing pups, Kai & Kalepo.

Tiffany Rodriguez, LMT

Needing an outlet from the stress of corporate sales Tiffany began receiving regular massages and was immediately drawn to the physical effects it had on her well-being. Soon after she enrolled in Advanced Fuller School of Massage in Virginia Beach, VA and received her licensure in 2018.

Her belief is that we are all interconnected and dependent upon each other for healing our bodies and minds; therapeutic touch was the initial spark for her. She approaches her work with a trauma-informed mindfulness, combining Swedish, deep tissue and myofascial release techniques.

Tiffany is from the Hampton Roads area and currently resides in Norfolk with her partner Stephan and their cat Terra. Long distance hiking and gardening are a few of the hobbies she enjoys, she recently returned from backpacking 1,900 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail.

Magin is a Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Neuromuscular Therapist, graduating from the Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy in 2022. She has focused on pain management and injury recovery, and loves helping people with chronic pain that they just can't seem to figure out.

Magin uses a broad range of techniques including deep tissue, myofascial release, neuromuscular therapy, cupping, range of motion, and active release to get the best results. Neuromuscular Therapy is a specific type of medical massage that focuses on exactly where pain is coming from. This is generally less pressure than deep tissue, but highly targeted. It is used to relieve trigger points and muscle stiffness with different techniques for each individual muscle.

Magin is from a small town in Washington State, and grew up surrounded by blue collar workers. She understands that life can be hard on your body, and started massage to help those with demanding jobs be more active and involved in their lives outside of work. Growing up in the heart of the logging industry, she has seen many people reliant on pain medication, and eventually surgery to continue life as they know it. Magin takes pride in being part of someone's pain management, and forms each session specifically to her client.
